About ORIC.

In the modern era of technology, research, and development (R&D) have joined hands with commercialization to become the driving force behind modern economies. This put immense responsibilities on the universities to develop a culture that emphasizes the need of research, development, and commercialization. At Mir Chakar Khan Rind University Sibi Balochistan, we understand that the evolution of institution is directly proportional to the emergence of new technologies and that the inculcation of the knowledge of contemporary technologies requires liaison with industry. This vision led to the establishment of the Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) at MCKRU in March-2021, on the directions of Higher Education Commission (HEC). ORIC is operating on the mandate of generating new ideas to enrich the knowledge base that supports the academic agenda of MCKRU, Sibi Balochistan and its members (students, faculty & staff) for achieving sustainable and equitable development in the academic field. To maximize the impact of research, ORIC carries out a set of activities that serve as an input to enhance research culture at the university departments, and the academic community.:


Mission

The mission of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) is to develop, expand, enhance and manage the university’s research programs and to link research activities directly to the educational, social and economic priorities of the university and its broader community. The ORIC is also responsible for assuring that the quality of research reflects the highest international standards and advances the stature of the university among the world’s best research institutions. In pursuit of this mission the ORIC has the responsibility of guaranteeing that all research programs and policies reflect the core values of academic freedom, professional integrity and ethical conduct and its full compliance with all policies, legal requirements, and operational standards of the University. It also focuses to encourage and accelerate the process of creation and diffusion of knowledge and its dedication towards promoting and strengthening the research culture and welfare activities for academia, industry, and society locally and globally. Additionally, its mission is to produce trained man-power, promote a culture of solution-oriented research for the greater well-being of the society, strengthen the university-industry linkages and prepare the students to meet the industry requirements.

Vision

ORIC’s vision is to enable and lead Pakistan’s and specifically Balochistan’s transformation to a knowledge-based economy aligned with innovation and entrepreneurship. It aims to promote a culture of research at MCKRU and to develop strong university-industry linkages to encourage and accelerate the process of innovation. In addition, the vision of ORIC is to groom the students to earn respect and recognition, train them to act selflessly for the greater good of the nation, aspire them for innovative and quality research to create research environment in close collaboration with the industry for sustainable economic growth.
